Just read an article about how MLB is thinking about changing the format of the All Star game voting, mainly because there are 8 Royals in line to start. You can bet if it were 8 Yankees or Red Sox they wouldn't be complaining.

They used Infante as an example of who shouldn't be there. They are probably right on that one but the others are pretty damn good picks.

I don't ever remember MLB complaining when the Royals only had a pitcher on the roster (the mandatory 1 player per team rep).

It's a popularity contest and kudos to the Royals for finally being popular, outside of KC anyway.

You are correct. The east coast biased media will whine if it is not a Yankee or Red Sox dominated roster.

Election to the all-stars should be merit based. Fan voting should be eliminated. Especially if the game has consequences, like WS home field advantage. And, if elected, they should have to play, not use the off days as vacation, or they lose the all-star designation.

No one whined when Varitek and his .200 average started the all star game a few years ago.

It's messed up for sure. Right now Aoki is ahead of Stanton in votes in the National League. That is crazy! However, the Royals argument is a good one. The media always finds a way to screw KC.

Here is an article that talks about this and points out that the Yankees have the record for the most starters in an All Star game from one team. Cincinnati beat them in the 50s but the commish took two players away. Hmm lets take two players off the list dropping them to only 5 player's which was 1 less than the Yankees 6. Bet you dollars to donuts some how the Royals numbers somehow drop to either 5 or 6 to keep the Yankee's at #1 or tied for #1.

Royals have 4 voted in starters. I figure Hosmer will replace Cabrera at 1st. Moose will also be on the team as will at least one of the pitchers.

Probably 7 total on the All Star team.
